Music Theory
There are times when we all need a little help wrapping our head around something. Maybe you need a different perspective or example to overcome a hurdle. I’ve taught music theory from the fundamentals through advanced atonal analytical techniques as a class and with individual students. My goal is to help you find the way you best relate to the material you need to know and use.

Music Composition
I was lucky to study with four amazing and award-winning composers. Lessons learned from them lead me in sessions with students. Their guidance gave me the skills to write for TV, film, theater, dance, and more. The range of methods and systems they taught me, honed my ability as a composer and a teacher. Each student I work with brings both a unique skill set and set of goals. My challenge is to find your strengths and build on them, to help you learn new skills to overcome any weaknesses, and to ultimately help you find your voice.

Songwriting
My work is personal, intimate, and accessible. Accessibility is crucial. Without it, your audience won’t be able to relate to work. To be successful, you need to communicate succinctly, draw someone in, keep them interested, tell them what you want to say, and make them enjoy the experience (even if you’re song is sad). The best songs make people feel something profound and make them think. I’m a member of BMI (Broadcast Music International), a former Board Member of the Dallas Songwriter’s Association, and member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the Grammys). I’ve been lucky enough to work with incredible artists and writers in my career. My favorite thing is to brag on my students and their accomplishments.

Guitar/Bass
I’ve been playing guitar and bass for over fifty years. As with my other work, I teach private lessons face-to-face or via Skype. Music can be a fun pastime, personal entertainment, or a profession. I’ve taught students at all levels and enjoy it more and more every day.

Audio Production/Recording/Music Publishing
One of the easiest things for us to forget as artists is that we work in the Music Business. For professionals, music is business. The laws and practices common in the industry are not hard to learn. You can learn what you need on your own, but you can do it much faster and make fewer mistakes with a little help. Trial and error works but it means you fail first.

Meditation
There are many benefits to regular practicing meditation: lower blood pressure, decreased anxiety, increased awareness, letting go of past issues, better sleep, greater productivity, enhanced memory, better mood, and happier outlook. Meditation is not difficult and can be done by almost anyone, almost anywhere. I’ve studied many different forms and techniques of meditation since the 1970’s and my sessions with clients are tailored to their needs. I don’t teach people how they should meditate but coach them to find how they want to meditate. Private or group sessions are available. Though you may want to mediate as a matter of faith, my sessions have no religious direction. I just want to assist you to use this simple practice to improve your life.
